8 Microsoft Security Bulletins in January

Microsoft will release no less than 8 security bulletins at the debut of 2007. The Redmond Company has published yesterday, January 4, 2007, the Security Bulletin Advance Notification
preceding Patch Tuesday, Microsoft's monthly security bulletin release cycle. In 2007, the first release of security bulletins is scheduled for January 9.

According to Microsoft's Security Bulletin Advance Notification, the Redmond Company will release patches for Windows, Office and Visual Studio. Microsoft failed to reveal if the Client Server Run-Time Subsystem vulnerability affecting a range of operating systems, including Windows Vista will be handled in this release.

Here are the security updates the Redmond Company plans to make available on January 9, 2007:

- Three Microsoft Security Bulletins affecting Microsoft Windows. The highest Maximum Severity rating for these is Critical. These updates will be detectable using the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer and the Enterprise Scan Tool. Some of these updates will require a restart.

- One Microsoft Security Bulletin affecting Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Visual Studio. The highest Maximum Severity rating for this is Important. These updates will be detectable using the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer and the Enterprise Scan Tool. These updates will require a restart.

- One Microsoft Security Bulletin affecting Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office. The highest Maximum Severity rating for this is Important. These updates will be detectable using the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer. These updates may require a restart.

- Three Microsoft Security Bulletins affecting Microsoft Office. The highest Maximum Severity rating for these is Critical. These updates will be detectable using the Microsoft Baseline Security Analyzer. These updates may require a restart.

Additionally, a representative with the Microsoft Security Response Center informed that the Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool will also receive the regular monthly update.
