Windows Vista is a work in progress. At least this is the message that Microsoft is sending out by continually chipping away at the operating system. The fact of the matter is that there are a plethora of issues affecting Windows Vista. The problems are by no means major but even small details drive down the Wow Microsoft which has so hardly marketed for Vista. Vista issues, however anodyne, give away the impression that Microsoft has not fine-tunned the operating system before general availability despite of the XP-Vista gap.

In spite of the fact that Microsoft is laboring to convince customers to upgrade to Vista before SP1, the truth is that small problems across the operating system only contribute to convincing users to wait for the first service pack.

And Windows Vista issues are the reason why Microsoft is continually enriching its collection of Knowledge Base articles. A total of eight new Vista hotfixes are available from the Redmond Company. They address a variety of problems including the unavailability of the upgrade option, unreadable media and XP/Vista dual boot configurations.

Microsoft is also addressing scenarios where no additional operating system is found in the Vista upgrade process or that cause the Encrypting File System (EFS) encrypted files not to be backed up by the operating system's "Back up files" option.

Additionally, the Redmond Company is also providing hotfixes for issues related to Windows Server Longhorn and Windows Vista in dual boot configuration, and to system freezes. You can access all KB articles via the links below.
