Unlocker

If you ever had problems with deleting files or folders, and I'm sure you did, then this little helper is for you. As its name so clearly hints, it is an app created to help you unlock files and folders so that you can freely manipulate them.

The magic wand of Unlocker does not cost a dime and is extremely easy to use as the application can integrate perfectly in Windows Explorer's context menu. For this to happen you have to pay attention during installation where there is also the option to receive updates automatically or enable the Assistant (sits in the system tray and launches the app whenever you hit a stubborn file). But mind that the Assistant does not work on Vista and is only XP compatible.

What Unlocker does to help you delete/rename/move hardheaded files/folders is to analyze all their hooks (processes, DLL files or handles) and present them to you, at the same time offering you the possibility to unlock the files/folders.

Unlocker works great, brings value added to the system and provides an easy way to manipulate files that for one reason
or another remain hooked by processes, DLL files or handles. And it is among the few file-unlocking apps that can run the desired operation at the next system reboot, should it fail to complete it on the spot.

Windows 7 Calculator

Windows 7 Calculator is a breath of fresh air in Windows as it is the first enhancement bound to happen with the latest operating system soon to be released by the Redmond company. The new version is enrolled in a fresh, new and shiny interface with consumer-oriented structure and has been enriched with goodies that can be applied in real-life scenarios.

Instead of two modes, Windows 7 Calculator provides four (Standard, Programmer, Scientific and Statistics) of them. Programmer and Statistics may seem like new additions, but they are actually split from the old Scientific mode in Vista and XP.

However, the new stuff consists in the fact that with this edition you can easily calculate mortgage and lease payments, estimate gas mileage or wage, make unit conversions that include the most used measurement units (angle, mass, volume, length, energy, power, pressure, temperature, time, etc.) or calculate the amount of time from one date to another. Additionally, the application provides a history of the calculations that can be edited.

Those of you running Vista can integrate Windows 7 Calculator in the operating system and use it as the default computation program. Thus it can be called on via keyboard shortcuts, hotkeys and even from the Run box or Accessories folder in Start menu.
