700,000 iOS & Mac Apps Now Available in 155 Countries

With the new iTunes Store rollout announced by Apple this week, a total of 119 countries now have access to a huge selection of premium audio and video content from the Cupertino giant. 155 countries now have access to the App Store.

In a press release hitting the wires yesterday afternoon Apple Inc. confirmed that 56 new countries were finally getting access to the iTunes Store for buying music, movies and TV shows.

By adding Russia, Turkey, India, South Africa and 52 additional territories into the mix, Apple confirmed that, “The iTunes Store is available in 119 countries and is the best way for iPhone, iPad, iPod, Mac and PC users to legally discover, purchase and download music online.”

Movies are currently available only in a few select countries (Russia, Turkey, India and Indonesia) and will be available in select additional territories later on.

The 20 million songs on the iTunes Store are available to everyone in Apple’s DRM-free format with high-quality 256 kbps AAC encoding – iTunes Plus.

Cupertino also confirmed with yesterday’s announcement that, “Customers also have access to the revolutionary App Store with more than 700,000 apps available in 155 countries.”
