Controversial reality show returns in January with a new season, promises even more weirdness than before

TLC isn’t about to let any other network outdo it in the weirdness department, so in January, it’s premiering another season of the hit reality show My Strange Addiction. Get ready for even more strange cases of addiction, from the woman who has been eating bricks for most of her life to the one who drinks air freshner – and the man who can’t stop dressing like a plastic doll.

Meet Robert, a 70-year-old man from California, who has been dressing up in latex, like a plastic doll named Sherry, for a very long time. You will find a teaser for the episode in the video below.

Robert says that he can’t stand the thought of looking in the mirror and seeing the body of a 70-year-old man, so he turns to Sherry to help him out. He thinks Sherry is an amazing, beautiful woman and he promises he’d not hesitate in chatting her up if he saw her on the street.

Of course, that can’t happen, since Sherry doesn’t exist, or as Robert likes to say with a laugh, “she’s all mine.” Insert evil laugh here.

All jokes aside, Robert also admits to the producers on his episode that he hasn’t dated a woman in some time, because he thinks they don’t rise to the level of perfection achieved by his Sherry. To him, Sherry is female perfection.

Many would disagree and say that Sherry is the stuff that nightmares (or at least good horror movies) are made of, but to each their own, I guess. Robert’s Sherry has a solid following online, so it doesn’t look like his appearance on the TLC show is meant to help him in any way kick his “addiction,” but rather to boost his popularity.

The series returns for a new season on January 7. Will you be tuning in?
