iGoogle, Google's Personalized Homepage, is a product which gives you the possibility to create your own homepage equipped with lots of Google goodies. Since a lot of consumers use it every day, it's obvious the Mountain View company had to improve it and allow the fans from all around the world to access
the page. Moreover, Google created customized versions of iGoogle for no less than 42 languages while the residents from 70 countries can access the page using their local domain name. This week, Google implemented the support for 13 new languages such as Arabic, Bulgarian and Catalan which allows iGoogle to reach new consumers around the globe.
"With this launch, more than 99% of Internet users can take advantage of these features in their native language, which is really exciting for us. We're particularly curious to see what iGoogle ends up looking like in these new languages," Jessica Gray, Software Engineer, wrote on the official Google blog.
iGoogle was first launched in May 2005 when the Mountain View based firm decided it was time to allow the consumers to get their favorite Google technologies in one place and access them in no time. The product was first named Google Personalized Homepage but it was renamed in April 30, 2007 when it also received several new functions.
Certainly, the main iGoogle attraction is represented by the gadgets, tiny utilities which can be installed on the page in order to bring special new functions. For example, you can implement a YouTube gadget that brings the latest uploads on the video sharing service straight on your Personalized Homepage. I think it's pretty useful if you'd like to access your favorite service easier than anytime before.
If you're not already an iGoogle user, go ahead and create your
Personalized Homepage. It's free to use and can be accessed with any Google account.
