The fragments were analyzed by Florida Atlantic University and proved to be magnetized

The 7-year-old boy named Steven was playing in the driveway before barging in the house accusing pain after something hit him in the head. His father, Wayne Lippard believed the boy was struck by fragments of a meteorite.

Admitting that the odds were astronomical, the 7-year-old's father held on to his assumption that what material hit his son was not from this world. The man explains that from the moment he took the first look at the wound, that later required three staples, he noticed something unusual.

“He's playing in the driveway and I walk into the house and about four minutes later, he comes to the window screaming. The gash looked pretty bad, but it wasn't bleeding a lot so we didn't panic,” the man tells Fox News.

Alerted, the man took his son, who suffers from autism spectrum disorder, to the hospital for a check-up. Everything seemed very weird for Mr. Lippard, so he started browsing the Internet in an attempt of finding answers, “maybe it was a golf ball or maybe it was debris from the landing gear of a plane, but what if he hit himself with a claw hammer and didn't want to admit it.” The man didn't want to avoid any possible scenario.

Wayne went outside to inspect the ground where his child was playing, and in the driveway he found a handful of unusual rocks very different from the other. At a closer look, he figured out that the small pea-sized rocks were magnetized and took them to the University for study. Unfortunately, the science center didn't have the necessary equipment to prove if they were or not meteorite.

Wayne Lippard still wants to study the rock, but will not release the small pieces if not assured he will receive them back. “I don't want to let go of them. This is a meteorite, I know it. I want to make sure they're truly investigated properly,” he said. He is happy that his son is alright and nothing worse happened. As he sees it, the meteorite fragment fell on the driveway and shattered, only grazing the child.
