A 7-year-old girl gave the fight of her life protecting her 4-year-old cousin during an attempted kidnapping. Miami born A-nari Taylor received a commendation from the Miami Police on Tuesday for her incredible act of bravery.

According to NBC Miami, the children were playing outside the window of 39-year-old David Moore's apartment in Overtown before the incident occurred. Moore tried to kidnap Brandon, the girl's cousin, in broad daylight. He was cited explaining himself by saying that God had told him to take the little boy.

“God told me to take him, God told me he’s coming with me,” Moore told the police officers that arrived at the scene.

The little girl instinctively responded by screaming, kicking, punching and shoving the man. She managed to pull him away a few times, until the man had no option but to leave the 4-year-old child alone. The threat of public exposure, arrest and incarceration led Moore to give up his victim and walk away.

Taylor told the police that “The man started pulling him, and we started pulling him back and I had to chop and kick him so he could let Brandon go.”

She then provided sufficiently detailed information so that the police could arrest the predator, Daily News reports. Moore is currently in custody, awaiting trial on charges of attempted kidnapping and false imprisonment.

"With the information that she provided the officers, were able to apprehend the defendant. [...]He was charged with attempted kidnapping and false imprisonment," Miami Police Commander Anita Najiy said.

A-nari has been warned by her mother about the threat that playing in small groups, with no adult supervision, poses.

When asked why she reacted to the presence of the strange man in the manner she did, the brave little girl that fought a man twice her size said “Cause my mama always said safety is first.”
