Leader International decided to add its name to the list of companies that offer one or more tablets to consumers, so it went ahead and launched not one but two such items.

The devices that the Pasadena-based company developed are the Impression 7 and the Impression 10, running Android 2.2 (Froyo).

Their names are indicative of their screen sizes of 7 inches and 10 inches, respectively, although if we were to be perfectly accurate the Impression 10 actually measures 9.7 inches.

Regardless, they have been officially detailed and given an estimated time of arrival of “by early November” in the US.

The Impression 7 has a price of $179 (128.61 Euro, give or take), while its larger sibling sells, or will sell, for $349 (250.75 Euro).

Whether European prices reflect these exchange rates (when and if the Impression tablets get there) is unknown.

The main differences between them, in addition to the size, are the resolutions of their displays and the quality of their cameras.

Where the Impression 7 makes do with 800 x 480 pixels (resistive touch panel) and a 0.3 megapixel webcam, the other one has a 3 megapixel camera and a capacitive touchscreen of 1,024 x 768 pixels.

As for the rest, Leader went for a 1 GHz Samsung Cortex-AB-based processor, 512 MB of DDR, 4 GB of built-in flash storage, a pair of USB 2.0 ports and stereo speakers, plus the obvious WiFi and micro SD card slots.

GPS and a G-sensor are present as well and, finally, the Impression 10 has an HDMI output as a bonus.

“The Impression 7 offers the best of mobile entertainment,” said Gary Bennett, Leader International's vice president of Sales, North America.

“The seven-inch screen is perfect for web, email, music, games and videos. Plus, unlike other popular tablets, the I7 allows for additional memory and delivers more functionality with an SD slot and USB port.”
