Four of them were broken on the low-cost X79A-GD45 Plus alone

MSI's X79A-GD45 Plus motherboard costs $230 – $250 / €230 – €250 on a good day, which is actually very little for platforms compatible with Intel's strongest CPUs. So one can imagine the surprise when that motherboard broke four overclocking records.

On MSI X79 motherboards, seven world overclocking records have been broken so far, by overclockers from all over the world.

Four of those happened on the X79A-GD45 Plus though, and the other three on Big Bang XPOWER II.

I've included the full list in the image above. You'll see that the Intel Core i7-4960X was used, although the Core i7-4930K also got its turn, succeeding in touching 6.5 GHz.

For those who want the full list, MSI motherboards have been used to set new records in wPrime 32m, wPrime 1024m (on two different CPUs), and CineBench R11.5 benchmarks, as well as in terms of core clocks: 6300 MHz on 4960X, 6552.32 MHz on 4930X, and 6363 MHz on 4820K.
