It appears that nearly 68 million large-size TFT-LCD displays account for only 36.0% of the global large-size panel shipments during the second quarter.

Still, that is a high number, especially when considering the fact that only the makers form Taiwan were included in the count.

The figure is 4% lower than the one in the same period of last year (April-June, 2011).

On the flip side, 67.882 million is 7.8% more than the figure registered in the first quarter of 2012.

Overall, demand was weaker than predicted, for all panels with a diagonal longer than 9 inches. That means that TVs, monitors and laptops all experienced weaker than average demand.
