After unveiling the HTC One back in February, Taiwanese mobile phone maker HTC also announced the availability of a developer edition of the device in early March, and it has made it available for pre-order today in the United States.

Unlike the commercially available flavor of the smartphone, the new device version arrives on the market with 64GB of internal memory, and is SIM and bootloader unlocked.

“Pre-orders for the HTC One Developer Edition start tomorrow April 5th at 7AM PST / 10AM EST on the HTC USA site,” the company announced on Twitter. The smartphone can be seen listed on this page at HTC.

The handset features a price tag of $649 (around 500 Euro), and might become available for purchase on April 19, the same day HTC One hits shelves at various wireless carriers in the country.

In fact, HTC did say in early March that it planned on releasing it in the US when the official availability kicks in, and a recent tweet from HTCDev has just provided confirmation on the matter.

“The HTC One Developer Edition will be available in limited quantities to customers with a US Zip Code for $649 when the HTC One is released in the United States,” the company said in a blog post last month.

The smartphone arrives on shelves with a 4.7-inch full HD touchscreen display capable of delivering a great experience when it comes to viewing photos and videos while on the go.

It also packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor, 2GB of RAM, front-facing stereo speakers, two dual-membrane microphones for recording, a 4-megapixel UltraPixel photo snapper on the back, and front camera for video calling.

Additionally, it will sport HSPA/WCDMA: 850/1900/2100 MHz, GSM/GPRS/EDGE: 850/900/1800/1900 MHz, and LTE: 700/850/AWS/1900 MHz (US) connectivity, as well as Open APIs for Bluetooth Low Energy, Infrared, and more, the Taiwanese handset vendor announced.
