The would-be thief is probably considering another career right about now

Earlier this week, a man broke into the house Patty Kearney shares with her husband, Donald, in Indiana, US. The man was carrying a wrench and duct tape and was looking to rob the place.

What this would-be thief failed to take into account was the fact that, despite being a 63-year-old woman suffering with cancer, Patty would not let him take whatever he pleased without putting up a fight.

Thus, Huffington Post tells us that the brave woman, whose diagnosis is lung cancer and pulmonary disease, grabbed hold of a back scratcher and proceeded to hit the burglar until he dropped his wrench and made a run for it.

“I looked at him and said, ‘Do you have a gun?’ And he said, ‘No,’ and I don’t know what happened. I snapped. I don’t think he expected an overweight woman on oxygen to attack him. I really don’t,” the woman says.

“I just hit him in the head, hit him in the head, hit him until he got right there, and I hit him once more and he ran out the door,” the 63-year-old cancer patient further details.

For the time being, police officers in charge of investigating this case have not managed to identify the thief, let alone apprehend him. Hopefully, it is only a matter of time until they bring him to justice.

As far as Patty and Donald Kearney are concerned, they say that they have installed a security system, and that they are ready to face the burglar, should he dare to return to their home.
