ASUS and Gigabyte lead in that region, as they do in most others really

Looking at the marketing performance of a brand in a single country wouldn't normally be relevant for everyone else, but China is a special case.

Since it is no longer an emerging market, and since it accounts for 20% of the world's population, one could say that market phenomena there reflect some of the situation the entire world is in.

So if two companies sell most of the motherboards in the region, it stands to reason that said companies have been doing well everywhere else as well.

According to this report, 60% of the 14.5 million motherboards shipped in China's PC DIY market came from Asustek Computer and Gigabyte Technology.

Competition for market share has become quite fierce in that country lately, since PC sales have been flagging, bringing DIY mobo sales down in turn.

For those who want numbers, ASUS shipped 4.5-4.8 million in China in the first half of 2013, while Gigabyte shipped 4-4.2 million.
