There probably won't be many, but even one will be a godsend

There was a time when $750 / 750 Euro was the “sweet spot” for the ultrabook market, but now that there actually are ultrathin laptops bearing that price, people are looking forward to further cuts.

Not too long ago, few dared to think that ultrabooks would ever reach the price of $599 / 599 Euro.

Intel is very optimistic though. During last week's Intel Solutions Summit (ISS) 2013, in Los Angeles, Kirk Skaugen, senior vice president and general manager of Intel's PC Client Group, promised that the price would be reached by Christmas.

It is a very ambitious promise, when even $699 is hard to come by on this particular market segment.

Still, while we won't hold our breath, we aren't about to look a gift horse in the mouth either. Haswell might make it all possible after all.
