14 DAY TRIAL // Scientists have been peering into the deep cosmos for decades now, but they have so far failed to find conclusive proof of extraterrestrial life, be it within the confines of our Milky Way or in some distant galaxy.
All the same, it looks like there are a whole lot of people in this world who believe alien beings exist somewhere in the universe that surrounds us. And we're not talking just any kind of aliens. We're talking advanced civilizations.
No, really, a lot of people believe in extraterrestrial life
According to a new survey carried out by marketing research firm YouGov, about 54% of Americans are quite convinced that aliens beings that are evolved enough to have the ability the communicate populate some corner of the cosmos that we have not yet got around to exploring.
What's more, the same survey revealed the same is true for as many as 56% of Germans and 52% of British people. So, yes, it would appear that folks who believe in aliens are no longer the odd ones out.
“Majorities across Britain, Germany and the US believe that extraterrestrial life exists,” YouGov sums up the findings of its investigation. “More than one in two people in the UK, Germany and the US believe there is intelligent life out there in the universe,” the market research firm adds.
Interestingly, it appears that men are more likely to believe in aliens than women. People between the ages of 18 to 24 are also more likely to think extraterrestrial civilizations exist somewhere out there.
Well then, how come we haven't talked to any aliens yet?
Of the people YouGov questioned when carrying out this survey, those who admitted to believing in aliens also said that the most likely reason we have not yet talked to these extraterrestrial beings is because they are too far away to make contact.
Of course, there are also some who think that aliens have visited us or have at least tried to make contact with us, and that governments have taken care to hide this from us.
