Just a few days ago, China lost a world-famous ginormous inflated duck, and for some reason, quite a lot of people were deeply saddened when this piece of news hit the online community.

The duck, a photo of which is available above, was last seen working its way down the country's Nanming River towards the end of last week. At that time, it appeared safe and sound.

However, the oversized yellow creature soon disappeared from sight, and folks in China have no idea where it might be or what it might be up to, media reports say.

To help put things into perspective, it must be said that this duck stood about 54 feet (16.45 meters) tall and tipped the scales at about 2,000 pounds (907 kilograms). So, yes, it's pretty odd for it to have disappeared.

According to Huffington Post, it is possible that the duck fell victim to recent floods in China. For the time being, it is unclear where its body might be resting. However, a quest for its remains is ongoing.

“The duck flopped over and was flushed away really quickly by the torrential flood. It disappeared right in front of me in several seconds,” witness named Yan Jianxin explained in a statement.

The duck was created by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman. It is still unclear whether the duck's creator will get behind efforts to try and locate the inflated creature and safely return its remains to shore.
