The percentage will grow to 70% after another year

A while ago, IDC (International Data Corporation) predicted that, overall, the laptop market would be made of 20% touch-based laptops this year. The percentage would then rise each quarter.

For each company, the proportions may be different. Acer seems to be among the ones that will most quickly turn to touch support.

According to this report, Acer expects 50% of all shipped laptops to be touchscreen-enabled in 2014.

20% will be attained as soon as the second quarter of 2013 (which is already almost half-way through).

Compared to the 12% in Q1, that is quite a fast jump, and explains why the company further expects the percentage to increase to 70% by 2015.

Other companies won't be as quick to promote touch though, which is why IDC doesn't think the global proportion will climb above 30% in 2014.
