iPhone developers looking to attract more attention will often drop the price on their apps, offer free demo versions, or, just sometimes, offer the full version of their app completely free of charge, for a limited time. It is the case of Barista Entertainment, whose $50 remote jukebox control software – MobileDJ – is now a free download from the iTunes App Store.

MobileDJ, which works with Barista Entertainment Digital Jukebox systems, is typically found in coffee shops, bars, and other venues. “Our company is built on the principles of making quality products and providing next generation technology ahead of the curve for our customers and their clients,” Barista Entertainment says on its website. That’s pretty much all the information we could collect from quick Google searches, but we trust those who are into Jukebox systems to know more, and make good use of this app.

Interestingly enough, the company does nothing to spread the word about this seemingly attractive offer. After all, not that many $50 apps are offered free of charge, even for a limited period of time. Luckily, we spotted this post by modmyi.com user iPhoneaholic, who wrote, “The app MobileDJ is free in the app store for a limited time. Its usually $49.99 for anyone interested.” iPhoneaholic claims to have found this tidbit via yokoipa.tk, which, according to the forum user, “tells you apps that regularly are paid which are free for the day or however long.”

Sure enough, whoever is maintaining yokoipa.tk/ makes a note of the interesting find: “Sorry, i am really very busy lately, so i cannot parse links to the site,” the tracker says, explaining that there are just too many apps that have gone free lately in order to link them all on that page. “And since it's another huge update, better to download it as a file!” He offers a download link to a .txt document containing all the promised links. “Enjoy the apps, amongs others, one expensive $49.99...,” the post finally reveals.

Hopefully, the news reaches you in time for the free download. However, since Barista has done nothing to notify Apple handset owners of this change, there’s an offset chance this is not a limited-time offer.

Update: MobileDJ is now a paid app again. Looks like it was a limited-time offer.
