The European price might end up closer to €1,000, but we can still hope

Ultra high-definition television sets started out with prices of over one hundred thousand dollars/euro, but they've come a long way since then, thanks to smaller sizes and other tech cutbacks.

Polaroid's newest display is clear evidence of that, measuring 50 inches in diagonal and bearing a price of only $1,000 (well, $999 according to Cnet).

That's €735, but the EU price will probably be closer to €1,000 due to how exchange rates seem to never matter.

The UHD TV (3840 x 2160 pixels resolution) is called 50GSR9000 and has three HDMI ports. It's not clear if they support HDMI 2.0 though (6 Gbps per channel, for a total of 18 Gbps), or if they're just normal ones (3.4 Gbps per channel).

If it's the former, 60 Hz 4K video is supported. If not, only 30 fps will be. All details should be made clear next week, at CES 2014.
