In February this year, rapper 50 Cent, also known as Fiddy, made the rather startling announcement that he would be going indie for his upcoming albums, as he had decided to leave Eminem’s label Shady Records, which is a division of Interscope, after 12 years.

Usually, decisions of this type aren’t made willingly or after a period when every party involved had the best time, so everyone assumed there was some huge rift between 50 and Eminem to have made the former want to part ways after so many years.

Still, he insists, nothing of the sort happened: he and Eminem are still good friends, and he will always be grateful for him for the many things he’s done for him throughout the years.

“It's impossible to ruin the relationship Eminem and I have built up. There's no way I would say or do anything that would disrespect what he's done for me,” Fiddy says in a new interview with The Huffington Post, meant to promote his two new singles, off his upcoming album.

“I credit a huge portion of my success to Em because if it wasn't for him being excited about the project, no one else would have rallied around it,” the rapper continues.

He compares how he feels about Eminem and how he could never speak ill of him to how Eminem himself feels about Dr. Dre, his mentor, who, in his eyes, could never do anything wrong. Not that he has a beef with Dre, he’s quick to add.

That last part bears a lot of significance because, some time ago, the rapper was lashing out on Twitter against Interscope for the way it was handling his album and even threatened to leak Dr. Dre’s music, as if he was holding him directly responsible for his own mishaps.

Regardless of how he must have felt about Dre in the past, Fiddy has nothing but love for Em.

“At a point where you desperately need help, and a person comes and lends you a hand, I don't see how you could forget what that person did for you. Well, you do have artists that do forget that. I've experienced it more than usual. I've got to say this, in Em's case, when everything's going wrong, I feel like he's not even involved in it; he's never a part of it,” 50 Cent adds.

His new album, “Animal Ambition,” will be out in music stores on June 3 and is preceded by the singles “Hold On” and “Don’t Worry Bout It,” which also have official music videos. Fiddy’s long-delayed “Street King Immortal,” believed to have started his rumored beef with Interscope, will probably be out next year.
