50 Cent is looking to prove his worth as an artist and he’s willing to do whatever it takes to get there. After removing all his arm tattoos to become a better actor, the star has embarked on a mission to prove he’s an artist in music as well – and has decided to stop making hip hop in order to demonstrate that, Contact Music informs.

A while ago, Fiddy was telling the media that he’d love it if he could duet with British sensation Susan Boyle. Though many believed at the time that he was joking, perhaps there was more to his words than initially expected, since the rapper is looking to turn his back completely on hip hop with his future material. Inspired by his touring through Europe and the party scene there, 50 Cent is set to come out with a more dance-inspired material.

“I went to a nightclub after party. It was different music after a while. The music they were playing before they were playing the music I created was more up-tempo, more dance. I wanted to make a song like that, so I went into the studio. Because I’m travelling with my live band, I took the band with me and we sequenced it and recorded the actual record while we was out there,” 50 Cent said in a recent interview, as cited by Contact Music.

So, he came up with the idea of recording a dance album. Though instances of rappers making such crossovers are not known, 50 hopes his case will show he’s a true artist. “I won’t allow myself to be placed in a box where I can only do one style, or do one kind of music. They should expect the unexpected on this one. If they can understand how I enjoy different genres of music and different styles, for the people who have various tastes in music, they’ll really like it,” he explained in the same interview.

Unfortunately, 50 Cent did not mention when he planned to come out with said dance album or, at the very least, whether he’s close to wrapping it up. However, those interested in seeing (or, better yet, hearing) what Fiddy has to offer new, should keep an eye on this space for more details.
