As promised, rapper 50 Cent has released yet another mixtape for free download on his personal webpage. “Forever King” was initially called “Sincerely Southside Part 2” but, given the sudden and tragic death of Michael Jackson, 50 felt a minor adjustment needed to be made so the title was changed and the release of the mixtape dedicated to the King of Pop, Rolling Stone informs.

Unlike the previously released mixtape, “War Angel,” which was also made available to all fans free of charge on 50 Cent’s website, “Forever King” is dedicated to the memory of Michael Jackson, which means some of the tracks have also been mildly altered on short notice to pay a tribute to the star who passed away the other week. “Forever King” will be followed by another similar release before the rapper’s album, “Before I Self Destruct,” drops.

“While the mixtape is dedicated to Michael Jackson, there’s only a few King of Pop nods throughout ‘Forever King,’ mostly in the form of 50 saying ‘RIP’ during the outro of a song. ‘Suicide Watch’ samples Vincent Price’s laugh from ‘Thriller,’ and ‘Michael Jackson Freestyle’ is mostly about selling crack until the chorus from the Jackson 5’s ‘I Wanna Be Where You Are’ kicks in on the second half of the song. (Prior to Jackson’s death, ‘Michael Jackson Freestyle’ was called ‘Where You Are.’)” Rolling Stone writes of the new release.

As noted above, fans can download “Forever King” directly from the rapper’s website free of charge, as they prepare for the release of the often-delayed “Before I Self Destruct.” As we were also telling you many months back, one reason for this was that 50 Cent promised the media and fans that he would not come out with his own album until fellow rapper and friend Eminem was not done with the release and promotion of his comeback material, “Relapse,” a promise he duly kept.

“Songs sampled on ‘Forever King’ include an awesome selection of obscure ’90s R&B, with Case’s ‘Touch Me, Tease Me,’ Horace Brown’s ‘One For the Money’ and Christopher Williams’ ‘Dreamin’.’ And while 50 often raps just one verse before letting the original composition play out for the remaining time, between ‘Forever King’ and the violent ‘War Angel’ mixtape, the Queens MC is building up buzz for the September release of his official next album, ‘Before I Self Destruct’.” Rolling Stone further shares about the recently unveiled material.
