Every now and then, we all need a few sugar sweet reminders of what life is all about – romance.

This top 5 cannot but include the world's most famous photo of a kiss. The picture was taken in Times Square in 1945, and it's titled “V-J Day in Times Square.”

The photographer, German-born Alfred Eisenstaedt, got a shot of an uninhibited sailor kissing a nurse he had never met before, on Victory over Japan Day. The picture was featured by Life magazine.

A picture of a pair of sandals woven out of a woman's hair is one of the oddest, romantic photos out there. The sandals were found on the body of a 16th century man that died at the age of 30, leaving a pregnant wife behind.

“Dear, let's live together until our hairs turn gray and die on the same day,” the letter found on his chest read.
