Things at Japan's Fukushima nuclear plant just keep getting better. And yes, I am being ironic.

Recent news from this part of the world says that this September 19, at 17:25 GMT, an earthquake hit fairly close to this nuclear facility.

More precisely, its epicenter has been pinned down at a distance of roughly 50 miles (80.5 kilometers) from the plant and at a depth of 12.5 miles (20 kilometers).

RT tells us that, according to researchers at the US Geological Service, its magnitude was one of 5.3. Scientists at the Japan Meteorological Agency disagree and say that, according to their data, the shake had a magnitude of 5.8.

Whatever its real magnitude was, the fact remains that, luckily, the quake was mild enough not to cause any damage to the plant or trigger yet another spike in local radiation levels.

TEPCO, the company that owns the nuclear plant, maintains that, at least for the time being, there are no signs that something is off. One can only hope the situation will stay the same.
