Best Buy issues the order after receiving 13 reports of the batteries bursting into flames

Save for science or fantasy fiction, where bursting into flames can mean ascension or some other benign transformation, spontaneous combustion usually doesn't spell good things.

That is why Best Buy took the measures it took after it received, as revealed by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, 13 reports of MacBook batteries catching fire. One user even got severely burned on their leg.

Fortunately, it isn't the standard battery that is causing trouble, but a replacement battery sold by Best Buy's Geek Squad repair department. 5,100 have been recalled.

The affected batteries were shipped between September 2008 and June 2012, and carry model numbers "MC-MBOOK13B" and "MC-BOOK13W." The former is black and the latter is white.

Both batteries were made by ATG, for Apple's polycarbonate MacBooks, which are no longer sold by the latter. So if you find a report that says the batteries were used by MacBook Pro, ignore it.
