Softpedia has been informed today, September 1, 2016, by 4MLinux developer Zbigniew Konojacki about the immediate availability for download of the final, stable release of 4MLinux 19.0.

4MLinux 19.0 entered development one and a half months ago, on July 16, 2016, and it only received a single Beta snapshot, which users were able to download and test on their personal computers. Now the status of the GNU/Linux distribution has been changed to stable, and we're happy to tell you all about its new features.

First of all, you should know that 4MLinux 19.0 is powered by the long-term supported Linux 4.4 kernel (version 4.4.14 is available in this stable ISO image). Second, it comes with some of the most recent open-source applications, including the LibreOffice 5.2 office suite, GIMP 2.8.18 image editor, and Mozilla Firefox 48.0.2 web browser.

Additionally, users will find installed the Mozilla Thunderbird 45.3.0 email and news client, Chromium 52.0.2743.116 web browser, Skype 4.3.0.37 VoIP client, Dropbox 7.4.30 file sharing client, Audacious 3.7.2 and aTunes 3.1.2 music players, as well as VLC Media Player 2.2.4 and MPlayer SVN-r37870 video players.

Updated graphics stack and LAMP server

Also updated in the 4MLinux 19.0 release is the graphics stack, which now uses the Mesa 11.2.2 3D Graphics Library. Wine 1.9.16 is also installed for those who want to run various Windows games and apps, and you'll find an updated LAMP server that contains Apache 2.4.23, MariaDB 10.1.16, PHP 5.6.25, Perl 5.22.2, and Python 2.7.11.

"Fuse (ZX Spectrum emulator) is now available out of the box, while Double Commander is offered as a downloadable extension. 4MLinux 19.0 includes the improved support for the MP2 format (via TwoLAME and SoX). Additionally, users have now more options to control the X.Org Server," says Zbigniew Konojacki in the release announcement.

Without further ado, we invite you to download the 4MLinux 19.0 GNU/Linux operating system right now via our website, where it's distributed as a Live ISO image you can write on either a USB flash drive or a CD disc. Please note that 4MLinux 19.0 is a 32-bit capable distribution.
