The second maintenance release of 4PSA VoipNow 1.6, the leading PBX software, was announced last evening in a press release coming from Rack-Soft. Version 1.6.2 brings some important features, such as PBX Call API, CallNow Center, Backup & Restore functions, and virtualized computing. These new features promise to improve system connectivity and user's interaction.

With the help of the CallNow Center tool, 4PSA VoipNow users can now be
contacted directly from the Internet, and control the caller's session at the same time. "VoipNow customers can publish a link on their website or include it in the email signature to allow others to get in touch with them. Unlike a simple click2call, which can be triggered through the VoipNow Call API, the CallNow Center allows VoipNow users to control the caller's session. It was designed for people that interact often with customers, like sales, marketing professionals, support, etc." - said Bogdan Carstoiu, 4PSA VoipNow architect.

Another new feature is the PBX Call API module, which provides support for plug-in developments and can be accessed by regular expressions in VoipNow. Moreover, 4PSA VoipNow users can watch real-time events of PBX, as the Call API HTTP interface can provide AJAX or HTML output.

Last but not least, the new version of 4PSA VoipNow offers a "no kernel modules" architecture. "As part of 4PSA commitment to green computing, we invested great effort to simplify VoipNow deployments in service provider environments. In the latest 4PSA VoipNow 1.6.2 version, we removed all kernel level dependencies and modified the product to run only in userspace. Even companies using 4PSA VoipNow on dedicated servers take advantage of this change, because they don't longer have to compile additional kernel modules after each Linux kernel update." added Mr. Carstoiu.

4PSA VoipNow comes in two editions:

■ Express edition - FREE for the community and limited to 10 phone extensions
■ Professional edition - Commercially licensed (prices start from 299 USD). Comes with advanced features, high availability, more extensions, and free technical support.
