This is the first edition of this Linux distro

4MRescueKit is a new Linux distro that is actually a collection of powerful tools covering pretty much all the operations that can be done from outside the OS, like partitioning or file recovery.

There are a number of Live distros out there with some of 4MRescueKit's features, but there isn't a particular tool that can do everything. This is where 4MRescueKit comes into play. It packs a lot of tools for pretty much everything that you would need in order to save a dying system, prepare a new one for installation, or just perform some maintenance work on the current one.

As the name suggests, 4MRescueKit is based on the 4MLinux distribution, an OS known for being really small and providing a complete desktop experience, despite its size. The developers only implement the basic functions, which helps them to provide puny ISO image.

4MRescueKit is new and it's a Beta release

This is the first edition of 4MRescueKit, so it will likely take a few weeks until the final version is made available. As it stands right now, it's actually made up from the Antivirus Live CD (antivirus tools), BakAndImgCD (backup tools), 4MParted (partitioning tools that use Gparted), and 4MRecover (tools needed for file recovery).

"4MRescueKit provides its users with software for antivirus protection, data backup, disk partitioning, and data recovery. It is distributed in the form of a multiboot CD, which includes four (extremely small) operating systems. Each of the systems tries to follow the UNIX philosophy (Small is beautiful. Make each program do one thing well)," is noted on the official website.

Users will notice that the image won't boot to an interface. Instead, users will have to choose for themselves what they want to start with. If you want to test it, you can download 4MRescueKit 11.0 Beta right now from Softpedia. If you do find problems or any other issues, make sure you tell the developer about it.
