4MLinux Rescue Edition 7.1, a special distribution that includes a wide set of system maintenance and recovery applications, is now available for download and testing.

As expected, it uses 4MLinux 7.1 as the core, but it also incorporates a number of important applications: antivirus protection (Clam AntiVirus 0.98 with ClamWin), data backup and recovery (4MLinux Backup Scripts 7.1, GNU ddrescue 1.17, TestDisk 6.14), disk partitioning and imaging (cfdisk 2.23.1, GNU Parted 3.1, Partimage 0.6.9, Partclone 0.2.58), and this is just to name a few.

4MLinux Rescue Edition also provides support for various file systems, such as btrfs, ext2, ext3, ext4, FAT, HFS, HFS+, jfs, Minix, NTFS, ReiserFS, and XFS.

4MLinux is a mini Linux distribution focusing on the following four "M": Maintenance (system rescue Live CD), Multimedia (e.g. playing video DVDs), Miniserver (using the inetd daemon), and Mystery (a collection of Linux games). Download 4MLinux Rescue Edition 7.1 Beta right now from Softpedia.

Remember that this is a development version and it should NOT be installed on production machines. It is intended for testing purposes only.
