Now that all 4MLinux 9.0 editions, including Allinone, Media, Game, Multiboot, Server, Rescue, and Core have been officially declared stable, it is time to move on with the development cycle and introduce you to the 4MLinux 9.1 release.

Zbigniew Konojacki, the developer of 4MLinux, announced a few hours ago the immediate availability for download and testing of the 4MLinux 9.1 Core distribution, marking the start for the 9.1 branch of the project.

4MLinux Core 9.1 Beta is built around the Linux kernel 3.12.23, BusyBox 1.22.1, and GNU C Library 2.19. All the included packages have been compiled with GCC (GNU Compiler Collection) 4.8.2 for the 32-bit (x86/SMP) architecture.

Additional drivers and firmware, including Nvidia, AMD, and Gallium3D video drivers, can be downloaded from the project’s website. From this point onward, all 4MLinux editions will be updated to the 9.1 version, based on the Core edition. More details about this release can be found in the official announcement.

4MLinux Core is the smallest edition of this open source operating system and it is distributed as an ISO image of approximately 5MB in size. Download 4MLinux Core 9.1 Beta right now from Softpedia. Please note that this is an unstable OS and it should not be installed on production machines.
