The city of New York should enjoy 4G coverage as soon as November is here, as three large telecoms companies in the country, namely Clearwire Corporation, Sprint and Time Warner Cable have just announced plans to have the new connectivity option available for users in the area starting with the first day of the next month.

According to the three companies, each of them plans on offering 4G services in New York under its own 4G brand, and they plan on enabling users enjoy the mobile Internet at new speeds.

“Clearwire, Sprint and Time Warner Cable will each launch commercial 4G service in New York City on November 1, with official launch events and retail store openings to follow in each market,” the three companies announced.

“Consumers and businesses should expect to see additional network expansions throughout New York City, along with a wide-range of independent marketing and advertising initiatives,” they continued.

When compared to existing 3G networks, the 4G solution, based on WiMAX, is expected to offer download speeds of up to 10 times faster, something that would greatly enhance the experience users enjoy benefit from.

“The 4G customer experience from Clearwire, Sprint, and Time Warner Cable is similar to Wi-Fi but without the short-range limitations,” the trio notes in a press release.

The WiMAX network is not affected by the range limitations of Wi-Fi as its service area spreads across miles, not feet.

Moreover, users can purchase dual-mode 4G/3G modems that would keep them connected even when outside the 4G area, so that they can continue their work at all times, on Sprint's 3G data network.

Through the launch of the new services in New York, users would be able to enjoy better mobile services, while being able to enhance their productivity on the go.

Along with the commercial launch of the new services, users would benefit from the features and capabilities various 4G-capable devices at these carriers can offer.
