Canadian mobile phone carrier TELUS is gearing up for the release of a new Android-based smartphone on its airwaves, none other than the 4G Samsung Galaxy S II X that was put on its website several weeks ago.

The new mobile phone is now said to arrive on shelves at the carrier on October 28th, with Google's Android 2.3 Gingerbread operating system on board.

Just as its name suggests, the mobile phone will offer support for the wireless carrier's 4G network, and should provide users with support for 4G download speeds of up to 42 Mbps (expected average is 7-14 Mbps).

However, this is only one of the high-end capabilities that the new device will pack when released on shelves.

It will also include a dual-core application processor for fast performance capabilities, as well as a large 4.5” super AMOLED plus touchscreen for vivid colors and a great viewing experience even when on the go.

On the back, the new mobile phone includes an 8-megapixel photo snapper with LED flash and 4X digital zoom and support for HD video recording, complemented by a 2MP camera on the front that enables users to make video calls while on the go.

The features list of the new device also includes:

- Run multiple apps at the same time without any freezing or slow-downs on with the 1.5 Ghz Dual Core processor
- Wi-Fi web hotspot access to your laptop or tablet
- Adobe Flash 10.3 lets you access to videos and games online
- Enjoy the benefits of Samsung’s Touchwiz access to 4 unique service hubs – Reader, Games, Music and Social
- FREE Google Maps Navigation for turn-by-turn voice guidance and Google Maps in 3D
- Access over 200,000 amazing free and paid apps from the continuously growing Android Market.

The new 4G Samsung Galaxy S II X can be seen on the wireless carrier's website here.
