Even though Amazon is known for its considerable discounts on various products, the major retailer is offering even greater deals for special occasions

For this weekend's Memorial Day promotion, Amazon is offering many 4G Android smartphones at special discounts, which turns these expensive high-end phones into affordable ones.

This is a time limited offer that will run through May 30 with one exception for the Xperia Play.

The latter is offered along with a $10 Amazon Appstore credit for students that purchase it by June 4th.

In addition, customers who purchase any of the available Windows Phone 7 smartphones are offered a $25 Amazon gift card starting May 30.

Apparently, there are nearly 20 4G smartphones available at discounted prices, including: Samsung DROID Charge for $179.99, LG Revolution for $149.99, HTC ThunderBolt for $129.99, Samsung Infuse 4G for $129.99, Motorola Atrix 4G for $79.99, Sony Ericsson Xperia Play for $99.99, T-Mobile G2x for $99.99, Sprint’s Google Nexus S 4G for $49.99 and HTC Inspire 4G for a mere $0.01.

HP Veer 4G is also available for $49.99, while the HTC EVO 4G can be purchased for only $79.99. However, it is worth mentioning that the HP Veer 4G is now listed as backordered, which means that the retailer will ship the device not sooner than 8-9 days.

The rest of the phones are usually shipped in 24 hours, depending on the carrier's approval. Additionally, it looks like Amazon doesn't charge anything, as most of the phones are offered with free two-day shipping.

Obviously, all prices include a two-year agreement with the carrier that retails the device, but the phones are also available for customers who wish to upgrade their phone, though the prices are a bit higher.
