The availability of 4G services in the United States is expected to receive a boost during this summer, Clearwire Corporation, Sprint, Time Warner Cable and Comcast announced today. Clearwire's WiMAX network will arrive in various new markets in the US, in addition to those where it is already available, and the aforementioned companies will bring their respective 4G mobile Internet services to people in these areas.

Each of these companies is set to offer the 4G services under its own brand. Clearwire and Sprint will work together on the delivery of 4G to Orlando and Tampa, FL, while Time Warner Cable is set to join forces with them to provide 4G services in Kansas City, KS; Rochester and Syracuse, NY. The services will become available both for consumers and business users, and the network expansion in these areas will be accompanied by various independent marketing and advertising initiatives.

The same applies to the markets where 4G services will arrive this summer from Clearwire, Comcast and Sprint, which include the following cities: Jacksonville and Daytona, FL; Kansas City, KS; Nashville, TN; St. Louis, MO; Salt Lake City, UT; Merced, Modesto, Stockton, and Visalia, CA; Wilmington, DE; Grand Rapids, MI; Eugene, OR; and Yakima and Tri-Cities, WA. Currently, a number of 32 markets across the United States can enjoy 4G services on the WiMAX network.

“The 4G customer experience from Clearwire, Comcast and Sprint [and Time Warner Cable] is unlike any other wireless service available today from any national carrier. Customers in these cities will now be able to increase their mobility and productivity in many ways: from instantly downloading large files to get work done on the run, browsing the Web just like at home from across the city, or watching online videos and movies while travelling in the family car around town,” the press-release announcing the expansion reads.

As soon as the new services will be put in place, users of Clearwire, Comcast, Sprint and Time Warner Cable should experience significantly faster speeds when compared to the currently available 3G networks. In addition, Clearwire and Sprint customers have the opportunity to purchase a series of 4G devices available for them, including compact USB modems, meant to offer an enhanced experience on the 4G network.
