In an attempt to further improve on its ecological footprint by upping its dependency on environmentally-friendly energy sources, Japan is planning on building a 400MW solar power park on a remote island located just off the coast of the Sasebo city.

Business Green informs us that the costs for building this solar power park will most likely amount to £706 million (roughly €834.66 million / $1,072 million).

Once the solar park is up and running, a company known as Kyushu Electric Power is set to purchase the electricity and feed it into the mainland grid.

By the looks of it, the electricity will be delivered to the people living on mainland with the help of undersea transmission lines.

Construction activities are expected to debut this coming May, the same source informs us.
