Post-it notes have been quite a popular item among Apple fans wishing to leave a tribute to the late Steve Jobs.

Most people used single sheets to jot down something heart warming and stick them on the glass walls of Apple Stores. One group of people, however, decided to use a tad more notes, and not one post-it has writing on it.

An enthusiastic group of artistic folks in Munich, Germany, decided to pay tribute to one of the most iconic figures of our time by using no less than 4001 post-it notes to make a portrait and stick it on the glass front entrance of an Apple retail store.

A video showing a time lapse of the creation is embedded above. The pixels were created with a Mac, filmed with an iPhone 4 and a timelaps app, and edited with iMovie on a MacBookAir.

The use of three distinct colors make Steve Jobs look like he’s on the screen of an 1989 GameBoy console.

Why use stickies? Because that was an app in OS Classic Macintosh. It made its way into OSX as a widget. And it did display in different colors just like the memorial stickies used in real life.
