Eager to celebrate its 40th anniversary in style, Verbatim released an entire lineup of external hard drive storage solutions, which are not only capacious and dependable, but also easy-to-use and small. The list of products is made up of the ultra-light CLON, the palm-sized My Clone, the workhorse known as InSight the Titan XS, an HDD touted as “the world's smallest 2.5” portable hard drive.”
“We are thrilled to celebrate our 40th anniversary with a spectacular line-up of data storage products that perfectly provide everyone – from time-pressed parents to busy business executives – with extremely dependable and easy-to-use units that give consumers exactly what they want in a hard drive – reliability, functionality and style,” Charles Klinker, Verbatim’s director of marketing, HDD Products, said. “Whether it’s increasing the storage capacity of a laptop or desktop system, backing up and protecting data, music, photos and videos, or transferring large files between computers, Verbatim’s new portable storage devices efficiently and affordably do it all – while looking great, too!”
The CLON weighs 4.87 oz and measures 4.54” x 2.99” x 0.59”. This pocket size, along with finger print and shock-resistant casing, makes the drive extra portable. The product is currently available in
250,
320, and
500GB models and each unit is pre-loaded with backup software, including the capability for scheduling automated backups.
The My Clone is also palm-sized and will be released in 250, 320, 500, and 640GB versions. These units also feature pre-installed backup software for file, folder and complete system backup and recovery. The myClone is also packaged with Norton online storage of 5GB (60-day, free trial) and 35 free MP3s from eMusic. The drives sport a piano black finish and even the USB turbo speed for an increased data transfer.
In
320 and 500GB versions comes the storage workhorse known as the InSight hard disk. This product has already earned the PCMag.com Editor’s Choice Award and boasts an integrated cholesteric LCD display. The unit's “Always on” display exhibits a personalized name and free disk space even when disconnected from the computer, a feature that allows the InSight to be easily identified. Like with the other drives, the included backup capabilities provide optional password security and full system backup/restore functions.
The TitanXS drive seems to be the main star of Verbatim's lineup. It is touted as “the world’s smallest 2.5”portable USB hard drive” and has a unique design, which makes it “ideal for mobile computing.” The TitanXS has a rubber enclosure, which protects it from rough handling and has a durable and sporty styling. This device features both the USB Turbo Speed driver and easy-to-use backup software for an optimum reliability and increased data transfer rates. The drive will only become available in early February, in capacities of 320, 500 and 640 GB.
The products will be showcased at CES until January 10, 2010.
