A couple from Provo have discovered no less than 40,000 bees that have been living in a wall in their house for years.

They inherited the bees from the previous owners, having moved out five months ago. One night, Tyler Judd and his wife heard buzzing while they were lying in their bedroom and requested the services of a beekeeper the next day.

"We were just sitting on our couch, turned off the TV and could hear some buzzing in the walls," Judd describes.

According to KSL, Al Chubak had trouble finding the hive, creating a hole in the ceiling before finally locating them in the master bedroom wall. To his surprise, he found tens of thousands of bees.

He says that they have been removing the insulation and possibly creating hives in other homes in the neighborhood.

Chubak estimates that it has taken three to four years for the hive to grow to the extent shown in the video above.

"The funny thing with hives is the ones that beekeepers have in their boxes seem to be dying across the county, all over 60 percent since last fall. Yet the ones in homes are doing fantastic," he notes.
