Mayhem's creations draw inspiration from red-carpet looks, books and movie characters

A 4-year-old girl nicknamed Mayhem by her mom might be the biggest little fashionista in the world. The girl is obviously more interested in fashion than the average kid of her age.

Her mother Angie noticed early on that Mayhem was into fashion more than other little girls, when she started using scarves and sheets to create her own dresses. So, Angie decided to help her daughter develop her passion and talent.

She first suggested making a dress out of paper last year and the girl accepted immediately. Nine months later, Mayhem still creates amazing fashion designs, which clearly demonstrates this is more than just a phase.

In an interview with the Huffington Post, professional photographer Angie states, “The ideas are pretty much a 50/50 split, but Mayhem constructs a lot more than most people would probably believe. That’s one of the best things about this project, I see her learning new skills every single day.”

Mayhem's creations draw inspiration from red-carpet looks, books and movie characters, but also from real life models. After awards shows, the girl and her mother look for images of dresses worn on the red carpet on Google and Mayhem chooses which outfits she wants to make.

Angie also says that her daughter finds inspiration in common items that surround her. For instance, after her first visit to an aquarium, Mayhem made a shark dress.

The little designer has transformed ordinary sheets of paper and other common items into one-of-a-kind dresses. She and her mother use tape and glue to hold together their astonishing creations. Sometimes, they also use gift bags, aluminum foil, tissue paper and wrapping paper for their unique outfits. Some dresses also include silk or tulle pieces.

“She can lay the entire thing out and tape it together all by herself. Definitely, the more complex designs have more of my time invested, but she's literally always beside me learning something new if she's not tearing or taping or gluing while I am,” adds Angie.

Mayhem already has a collection of over a hundred paper dresses. And they are really amazing.

Her crafty mom is also an avid blogger and Instagram user, so she regularly posts images of her daughter's red-carpet-like dresses.

My favorite design is clearly the one that mimics Katy Perry's music-note gown she wore at the 2014 Grammy Awards. It's simply adorable. The mini version of the dress was created using tulle and tissue paper, but it's very similar to the original Valentino.
