This past Wednesday afternoon, veterinarians at the BluePearl Veterinary Partners hospital in Clearwater performed surgery on a 17-year-old tiger and removed a 4-pound (1.8 kilogram) hairball from its entrails.

Conservationists working with Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Inc. in Seminole, i.e. the organization in charge of looking after this tiger, say that the animal had stopped eating about 2 weeks prior to their taking it to said hospital.

Apparently, this happened because the hairball obstructed Ty's entrails, making it impossible for it to swallow and hold down food.

Now that the hairball has been removed from inside Ty's guts, it appears to be doing just fine.

Veterinarians say that the 400-pound (181.4 kilogram) feline will soon make a full recovery, Wink News reports.

“I’m just extremely thankful for the help Dr. Woodman, Dr. Reems and the staff at BluePearl provided,” states the founder of Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Inc., Vernon Yates.
