The UK Metropolitan Police has announced that four individuals, current and former Mirror Group Newspaper journalists, have been arrested as part of an investigation into a phone voicemail interception case.

The arrests are part of the now-famous Operation Weeting, but authorities say the case is treated separately from the other two investigations that target the defunct News of the World (NOTW).

“It is believed it mainly concerned the Sunday Mirror newspaper and at this stage the primary focus is on the years 2003 and 2004,” Scotland Yard said in a statement.

The suspects, arrested on the morning of March 14, are three men, aged 40, 49 and 46, and a woman, aged 47.

They’re currently being interviewed at police stations in London. In the meantime, the police are carrying out searches at a number of addresses.
