Is there anything that iPhone can't do? I swear to God it's becoming the perfect gadget to own by the passing of each day. How would you like to control your computer from the comfort of your couch/bed using it? With Touchpad, you'll be able to perform tasks such as play, pause, rewind, fast forward, skip, minimize window, drag and drop, and pretty much everything else you do with your PC mouse. It works with iPod touch too by the way.

You see, this third-party software lets you turn your Apple phone or iPod touch into a wireless touchpad that you can pair with your computer and use as if it was its mouse. So basically, the pointer stays where it is, only the iPhone takes over.

Touchpad enables you to use your iPhone (or iPod Touch) as a wireless touchpad. You can control the mouse on your PC using just your iPhone. You can move the mouse around, click, double-click, and even drag (double click, but keep it pressed and then move around). Vertical scrolling is even possible, by click-and-dragging on the right edge of the iPhone screen, wrote developer and computer science PhD student Jahanzeb Sherwani on archetype-design.co.uk.

You can use it to control videos, go through pictures and other files, advance slides in a presentation or whatever a regular touchpad can do. Now wait a minute, don't go that far. Sherwani said touchpad, not trackpad, so if you're thinking pinch, swipe and rotate functions, you're way ahead of what this nifty app can do. Nevertheless, it should prove quite useful for couch potatoes, or for those looking to explore the possibilities of the i-devices to the max.

In order to install Touchpad, iPod/iPhone users are required a jailbroken device. Needless to say, Softpedia doesn't condone hacking your Apple portables, so if you go forward with this, it's your responsibility alone if the device bricks. Mac users have a different set of instructions to follow. The app is available for Windows, Mac and even Linux users.
