The update also brings Android TV support

3DMark, one of the most complete benchmark solutions for Android devices, has just received a major update that adds quite a lot of new features and improvements.

According to the official changelog, the latest version of 3DMark for Android features a new Sling Shot benchmark for testing OpenGL ES 3.1 and OpenGL ES 3.0 performance of compatible devices running Android 5.0 or later.

But that's not all, as developers confirmed they have added new hardware monitoring chart that shows how CPU clock frequency, CPU usage, temperature and battery charge changed while the benchmark was running.

This new feature is aimed at those devices that had their processors rigged to perform better when various benchmarks were running on the smartphone / tablet.

Furthermore, it looks like 3DMark is now capable of recommending the best benchmark for your device based on its hardware configuration.

Also, developers managed to split benchmarks in standalone parts that can function separately, so users will now be able to install only those benchmarks they intend to use, thus saving storage space.

Moreover, 3DMark now features improved UI, which should make choosing benchmarks much easier. Android TV support has been added as well, so you will be able to benchmark set-top boxes and smart TVs.

Last but not least, the official changelog mention the update adds Russian localization and other minor bug fixes and small improvements.

Keep in mind that this Sling Shot benchmark is only compatible with devices mentioned earlier and requires 1GB of RAM (1.5GB for ES 3.1), as well as at least 203MB storage for apps and tests.

If you don't have the application installed yet, you can now download 3DMark for Android for free via Google Play Store. The benchmark should be fully compatible with all devices powered by Android 4.0 and up.
