The panel somehow makes them disappear after a short period

We heard of anti-smudge and fingerprint-resistant surfaces before, even screens with the alleged ability to shrug such things off for a while, but most implementations were either research projects or far from perfect.

3M claims to have created a touchscreen protector that achieves this better than anything else currently out there, but this is not the most relevant thing to consider.

What is more important here is that we aren't just looking at a nice research project. 3M is already selling its invention.

Interestingly, it doesn't even take buying a new tablet to see what it can do. The touchscreen protector sells standalone, for $25/ 20 Euro (Amazon).

That sum shouldn't be too much to handle. After all, if someone affords buying a commodity device like a tablet, they probably won't cry for another 25 bucks.

Those interested should keep something in mind though: the touchscreen protector is only compatible with Apple's iPads and Samsung's galaxy Tab 2.7.0 tablets.

It is also worth mentioning that 3M doesn't actually explain how its invention does what it does. It just promises to make smudges and fingerprints disappear after a short while.

For what it's worth, customer reviews, though mixed, currently rate the 3M Natural View Fingerprint Fading Screen Protector at around 3.5 out of five stars, which is more than we'd have expected.

Just a general warning: make sure to be very careful when putting it on, or there will be plenty of air bubbles to cause annoyance. One person threw it away after failing to install it, while another praised the panel after three days of not needing to wipe it even once.

As for the finger touch, it won't feel the same as on the bare glass, but it should be good anyway. Feel free to get back to us and share your experience in the comments section below if you decide to try the thing out.
