Even phones and tablets can be compared to each other and PCs now

The main problem with most benchmarking suites is that they only work on Microsoft's Windows operating system. Futuremark hasn't exactly fixed this issue for its software, but it has made a step in that direction at least.

And by that, I mean to say that a 3DMark benchmark has been released for Windows RT.

For those unaware, Windows RT is the version of Windows 8 made specifically for ARM smartphones and tablets. It isn't used much, sadly, but that didn't, ultimately, deter Futuremark much.

3DMark for Windows RT includes three tests based on the "Ice Storm" test scene. They are named "Ice Storm," "Ice Storm Extreme," and "Ice Storm Unlimited."

CPU, GPU, display resolution and other OS-related factors are put through the grinder during each run of the performance measuring software.
