It wasn't that long ago that I brought you news about a 3D printed chocolate factory, and now I can safely say that more confectioners are interested in giving the idea a try.

And by “idea” I mean the concept of 3D printed food. Or at least 3D printed candy, sugar sculptures and the like.

This much, 3D Systems revealed not long ago, saying that it has entered a multi-year joint development agreement with The Hershey Company.

In case the name doesn't ring any bells, The Hershey Company is the largest producer of quality chocolate in North America. Obviously, that means it's pretty important worldwide too.

Various 3D printed chocolate and non-chocolate products should show up over the next few weeks, months and years.

“Whether it’s creating a whole new form of candy or developing a new way to produce it, we embrace new technologies such as 3D printing as a way to keep moving our timeless confectionery treats into the future,” said William Papa, vice president and chief research and development officer, The Hershey Company.
