The online retailer partners with 3DLT to make it happen

3D printing technology came a long way in the past two years. It seems like it basically took off with a great leap once the first plastic figurine was made successfully, and later metal 3D printing became possible. Amazon is all over the new market segment now.

The well-known international online retailer has formally introduced a 3D printing marketplace.

You heard it right, there is a 3D printing store page on Amazon now, although it's not only Amazon's success.

3DLT is the company that made it possible, through an agreement with Amazon, and the latter is already working with three more companies to expand its product lineup.

It's a really smart move, on both counts. Amazon gets to sink its teeth into the 3D printing industry early on, and 3DLP gets directly exposed to Amazon's massive customer chain. It's like an ultimate form of collaborative advertising.

Granted, in a way it's not much different from how all other tech companies ship their products through Amazon, but this is the first entry to the retailer's 3D printing online marketplace, so it's bound to cause a few ripples of far-reaching consequence.

Keep in mind that this is a 3D printing service marketplace, not a 3D printer page. The actual printers (from various companies) have their own section and ship like every other product on the site.

So what can you find if you drop by, you might ask? Lots of things, like belt buckles, bracelets, smartphone or iPhone cases, coffee cup sleeves, pendants, “futuristic” bow ties, earrings, etc.
