They are just as flexible and complex as they need to be

It may not be possible to create fully complex, sophisticated items in one go using 3D printing, but doing them piece by piece is another story entirely. Because of that, things like the Mixee Bags can come into being.

Mixee Labs loves its progressive designs. It's the whole point of its existence, you could say. An online database where various designers from around the world can reveal their inventions and sell them.

Fashion is just one of many sections of projects you can find on Mixee Labs, and it's not really the most important, or even all that big.

However, it has, nonetheless, caught up attention due to something that got uploaded not too long ago: the Mixee Bags.

3D printed objects aren't really all that flexible, unless they're produced out of NinjaFlex or nylon, and even then the bendability might not be ideal for whatever you're trying to make.

Certain design elements, however, like hinges, can compensate for that quite handily. It is this that enabled the creation of the Mixee Bags.

A range of purses and wallets, the Mixee Bag lineup relies on interlocking, hinging elements. You can make your own wallets and purses just by printing a bunch of different segments and then clasping them together.

You can probably see the difference between these things and most other 3D printed clothes, jewelry, shoes and accessories seen before. Where good/unique looks were emphasized previously, the Mixee Bags are primarily functional.

Triangles are the basis of the objects, each with their own hinges, allowing the material to “fold,” and thus, letting a wallet open and a purse to accommodate whatever you put inside, without feeling uncomfortable against your hip.

And yes, tests have been run. More specifically, women who have been using the Mixee Bags have done so for a month, with the “band” across the body, and have reported no discomfort whatsoever.

And because the “fabric” (the plastic segments, in essence) doesn't have to bend at all itself, there is no issue with reduced durability over time either.

Availability and pricing

The Mixee Bags aren't available, and probably won't be in the traditional sense. You should be able to print your own when the designs become available though. You should use a heated print bed for the best, smoothest, shiniest results.
