Games play a core part in our development, especially during childhood. But some games can only be played on a computer, and could do a lot of good and be a lot of fun if they were available in a different form too.

A company by the name of Ittyblox has decided to transform a purely virtual game into one that you can go hands-on: SimCity.

That's right, you can now build whole cities with your own two hands. Ittyblox has discovered the wonder of 3D printing, you see, and it is putting it to good use in making the buildings and holders for them.

Technically, you can arrange the buildings however you want, but if you really want to build a proper town, you're better off using the grid-based holders.

Shapeways has been contracted to perform the actual 3D printing, and the building themselves aren't all that large. The Chicago set, for example, has one that measures 1.177 x 1.063 x 0.994 inches / 30 x 27 x 25 mm.

The buildings can cost $9.90 / €7.50 to $29 / €22 and the city sets sell for $69 / €52. Base plates are included, but you can buy more for $19.95 / €15.12 each.

You won't be able to gain all that much experience in landscaping from playing with these 3D Printed SimCity Packs, nor will you get the economic/financial challenges of the actual SimCity PC game, but it should still be a fun way to pass the time.
